Prep is the part people cut, and it's the part that matters

A cheap paint job and a good one use the same paint. The difference is entirely in what happened before the first coat: filling and sanding, caulking gaps, cleaning and de-glossing surfaces, priming stains and bare spots, and masking properly instead of trusting a steady hand.

That's why one job still looks sharp after five years and another is peeling at the trim edges by the second winter. We do the prep. It's most of the labor and it isn't optional.

Exterior work has a season here

Colorado gives you a real but limited exterior painting window. Paint needs consistent temperatures to cure — too cold and it never fully hardens, direct hot sun and it skins over before it levels. Late spring through early fall, working the shaded side of the house as the sun moves, is how you get a finish that lasts.

If you're calling in November about exterior work, we'll usually tell you to wait until spring rather than take your money for a coat that won't cure. Interior work runs year-round.

What Drives the Price

We don't publish flat rates, because a number quoted without seeing the job is either padded to cover the worst case or it's going to change later. Neither is fair to you. Here's what we're actually looking at when we price it:

• Square footage and ceiling height
• How much prep the surfaces need — the biggest variable by far
• Number of colors and whether trim differs from walls
• Coverage — dark to light takes extra coats
• Access — two-story exteriors need more staging
• Paint grade you choose

Straight Answers

Do you supply the paint?

Either way. We can pick it up so you're not hauling five-gallon buckets, or you can buy it yourself if you want a specific product. We'll tell you honestly which lines are worth the money and which aren't.

How long does a room take?

A standard bedroom is usually a day including prep. Whole-interior jobs run several days. Exteriors depend on size and access, typically three days to a week.

Can you match an existing color?

Yes. Bring us a chip, a leftover can, or we'll cut a small sample from an inconspicuous spot and have it scanned. Matching faded exterior paint is imperfect by nature — sun changes color over time, so a perfect match to the original formula won't match the wall.

Will you move my furniture?

We'll move what's reasonable and cover everything that stays. For heavy or fragile pieces we'd rather you handle it or tell us in advance so we plan for it.

Do you do cabinets?

Yes. Cabinets are their own animal — heavy degreasing, de-glossing and the right product, or it stays tacky and chips at every handle. Worth doing properly.
