Mowing height matters more than mowing often

Most struggling Front Range lawns are cut too short. Short grass means shallow roots, and shallow roots in Colorado sun and wind means a lawn that burns out in July and needs constant water to survive.

We cut higher than most services do. Taller grass shades its own root zone, holds moisture, and crowds out weeds without chemicals. It also means your water bill goes further, which in this state is not a small consideration.

Cleanups are the seasonal money-savers

Fall cleanup matters more here than people think. Leaves and debris left over winter mat down under snow and smother the grass, and you spend spring repairing damage that a single fall visit would have prevented.

Spring cleanup sets up the whole season — clearing winter debris, cutting back what needs it, refreshing mulch before weeds establish. Both are one-visit jobs with outsized effect on how the yard looks all year.

What Drives the Price

We don't publish flat rates, because a number quoted without seeing the job is either padded to cover the worst case or it's going to change later. Neither is fair to you. Here's what we're actually looking at when we price it:

• Lot size and how much of it is turf
• Obstacles — trees, beds and fencing slow trimming
• Service frequency, with regular routes costing less per visit
• Current condition, for overgrown rescue work
• Whether bed work, mulch or trimming is included
• Gate access width for equipment

Straight Answers

Do you do one-time cleanups or only contracts?

Both. Plenty of people call us once for a rescue after a yard got out of hand, and that's a perfectly good reason to call.

How short do you cut?

Higher than you're probably used to, and deliberately. Short cutting is the most common cause of stressed lawns here. If you want it shorter we'll do it, but we'll tell you first what it does at this altitude.

What if it rains on my day?

We shift to the next dry day. Mowing wet grass tears it and clumps, and neither is good for the lawn.

Can you handle a badly overgrown property?

Yes. Rental turnovers, vacant properties and yards that got away during a hard year. It takes longer than a normal mow and we'll price it accordingly, but it's routine work.

Do you do snow in the winter?

Yes — most of our lawn customers roll onto a snow contract for the winter. See the snow removal page for how those work.
